Power plant lighting is designed according to the typical characteristics of large machinery, multi-level workspace, and uninterrupted work in power generation enterprises.
We generally divide it into industrial lighting, office lighting, outdoor road lighting, and safety lighting. Safety is the essential criterion because there are flammable areas in electricity production.
A power station consists of various industrial environments: fuel storage and processing, turbine and boiler rooms, conversion rooms, instrument rooms, control rooms, high-voltage substations, and so on, each requiring its lighting method.
Correct lighting levels and low operating costs form the basis for selecting a lighting system for a power plant. High-efficiency light sources and energy-saving devices are chosen together with suitable lamps to achieve optimal results.
CIBSE, CEN, and DIN standards guide recommended lighting levels.
Indoor storage area: The lighting scheme depends on the ceiling height. We use fluorescent luminaires for lower elevations and medium-overhead luminaires suitable for SON or HPI-BU light sources for higher areas. Use waterproof lamps (IP65) for half of the outdoor and the splashing regions.
Outdoor storage area: Floodlights with SON-T light sources are mounted on high poles to provide the required lighting level.
Delivery area: Recommend fluorescent slatted luminaires with industrial reflectors or waterproof luminaires.
Water treatment plant: Waterproof lamps suitable for fluorescent lighting are ideal for this area.
Boiler room/platform/basement: Vertical lighting is also essential in many areas so that pressure gauges, gauges, etc., are visible when performing necessary tasks. We can also use waterproof fluorescent lamps or quality glass lamps suitable for SON, HPL, or ML lights.
Turbine generator platform: It can be achieved through operational lighting wherever required. Because of the high ceiling, we recommend using elevated lamps suitable for SON or HPI light sources. You can also use Waterproof luminaires for operational lighting.
Machine and repair shop: We’d better use Medium frame lamps suitable for HPI or SON light sources where the ceiling is high.
Control room: Recessed office series lamps suitable for ‘TL’5 or ‘TL’d lamps with type C6 reflectors can meet this essential requirement for control rooms with artificial ceilings. For areas without artificial ceilings, we can choose similar specifications.
Explosion-proof area: The lighting level is similar to above, we MUST use explosion-proof lamps.
